A Scarlet Letter

by blackheartslove   Feb 18, 2009

Its cold tonight
A reflection of her heart
Shattered and broken
She sews it up again
But the pain doesnt end
Its weighing her down
Spiraling into despair
Shes still waiting
Shes not sure why
For the happiness
That never seems to come

The darkness strangles her
And leaves her heart in fear
The numbness in her heart
Brings a single tear
Painted in the sky
A scarlet letter boldly dances
Bleeding through the sunset
Marking it with ink
Staining all it touches
But people never stop to think
About what’s hidden inside

A blackened heart
Scarred from the hurt
She struggles on
Through the binding pain
It pushes her deeper inside
Shes hiding all shes feeling
With a flashy smile
A scarlet sign
A silver tear
Marking her out
For the world to see

Running back into the night
Broken and abused
The will to fight
Has left her
As the judgment crashes in
Shes running from a world
She was never meant to be in
Tears fall down like rain
They’re acid on her soul
Shes marked for all to see
And yet no one knows her heart
