Aftertaste

by Melissa   Feb 20, 2009

I find your tongue appealing-
the way it settles
like a coin tossed in a well
succeeding conversation
with a poem

I'd like to kiss those verses
so that maybe
my mouth could comprehend
poetry that's so baffling to hear,
better off to lick each noun
frosted with absolution,
the eyes cannot read
what is illegible

my lips are more apt
at discerning you
from most,
but I fear your words may be tasteless
or worse yet
undefined by love
