Faith Painted Ink

by Jenna Rose Kat   Feb 26, 2009

Laying on the bed, broken hearted,
Silent tears roll down her cheek,
She reaches for the door,
Hiding her pain from the world,
She gave her heart to him,
But he gave it back, begging for no more.

She breathed in regret,
Breathed out remaining happiness,
And soon she felt herself break,
Misery fell around her like a fog,
As she came to a resolution to the pain,
A difficult choice she thought to make.

She promised to love him forever,
It's a promise she intends to keep,
But life for her is so hard,
Without him there's no comfort to sleep.

A year goes by and she's still faithful,
Though her pain has made her go numb,
People said it never would last,
But her heart tells her differently,
One day she knows his mind will change,
One day they will again dance.

The last string snapped from what she read,
That day the newspaper said,
To another girl he will wed.

Her heart shattered into a million pieces,
Through, for the public eye, she kept her composure,
She decided to do it that night,
He will know exactly how much she means to him,
She made the preparations and wrote a note,
Before tomorrow comes, she will see no more light.

And she's fading,
Losing herself,
Losing all hope,
Losing her sanity.

As she climbs the ladder up the water tower,
The place they first met,
Feeling or sorrow and betrayal fill her heart,
She gets up on the railing and looks out,
Clutching the note in her hand,
She takes a step off and falls to her depart.

The next morning, the police delivered him the note,
Hearing the news, he unfolded it,
And it read:
"Now I show I'll love you forever,
I died for you tonight,
How I feel is cemented into time,
Always there and never fading,
I'll be with you in spirit, my love,
My final gift to you- my gift of rhyme.

Don't forget me."

Silent tears roll down his cheek,
For the regret he never knew he had,
"I'll always love you too."
