Give Peace A Chance!

by SweetGrief   Mar 28, 2009

Trampled in dust
flying over my own visage
looking for a shelter beneath the rain
lost in a city without a name

I am defeated without strength to fight
running over the hills to find
a shadow that would cover my heart
a spunk that would walk beyond the dark

blue skies seemed so dark
clouds won and stars seemed obscure
the sun of freedom was torn apart
the moon of dreams has lost the power to cure

a heavy sound was rocking the world
like a thunder with a deep long song
airplanes seemed like carnivore birds
looking for a destination to break

Blood flow and established a creek
a creek that permeated souls that tried to sneak
covered the city of pure anticipations
and devastated a sea of absolute expectations

the badge of tranquility migrated
left a broken pledge and a pleading mistaken
Bombs fell like lighting stars
Deceived our wishes and shattered our hearts...

If we would only let peace inflate
release our souls and forget the hate
permit love grow and let it enhance
if we could only ease and give peace a chance...!

I really like the message behind this, i think more people should read this and realise that war cannot solve anything, people and nations should give peace a chance. Good work.

Wow Awda, you have really impressed me with this piece. I like the tone of the poem that you have set. I can feel your anger towards all those who support violence.

^^^ this stanza really stood out for me...It paints claer images in my head esp the 3rd line...the 4th line... yeah i can feel how those victims feel having wishes that couln't be fulfilled
