The Mask (That stole my heart)

by Nikkicola   Mar 29, 2009

It was one night quite long ago when your mask caught my eye....
I'm still thinking about you, awaiting another sleepless night..

My dad was persistant a princess of my age should be wed
I was distraught, so many endings running through my head

As they put my make-up on and covered my face with a sequined mask
I took a deep breathe and accepted my task....

The room was filled with many suiters all each very different then the other..
It was then I saw somes tears coming from the eyes of my mother

You were hansome, your mask was unique
The bright colors of red, and yellow made my heart skip beats

Although I wasn't shy from you I seemed to stray
Getting more depressed with every step I took away

You were looking at me your eyes were the only one's I felt
My breathing becoming unsteady, and I was sure I would melt

I felt someones hands on my shoulder, I slowly turned
Your eyes were staring deep in mine and my heart is what they burned

You took my waist and you took my hand
And around the room we began to spin

When the dance was over I pulled away your mask
When I saw your face the guards flew towards you in a flash

You were just a peasant my father lectured me later...
My mother agreed, as I slowly started to hate her...

They told me I was redicolus that I couldn't love you after a dance
But I saw my life in your eyes and I knew I'd never give another a chance

And me I'll never wed unless it's you that holds me forever
I'll never say I do until it's someone my heart can treasure

So I'll continue to dream with my eyes wide open
Begging for an answering, and always hoping

It doesn't matter who you are your clothes matter not to me
All that matters is that the one you love always makes you happy
