Rainbows (Moment I Knew)

by Nikkicola   Mar 7, 2024

You spin me around until I can barely breathe.
Let's lay and let the rain wash us clean.

“Reds, Pinks and violets too
I’m curious, I want to know all about you?”

You took my hand and held it tight.
“Dark blue and green but you feel so bright.”

Follow me all the way until the end.
Dive headfirst, jump right in

Gold awaits just not exactly where you’d expect to see.
You throw your head back and laugh so loud it comforts me.

Is this it, the exact moment that I knew?
No more questioning how I felt for you?

I’ve danced in the rain too many times to count, I’ve laughed so much.
I’ve fell asleep more times than I care to admit craving your touch.

“Yellow and orange aren’t so bad either,” I admit.
Meeting your eyes and then looking away quick

“I’ve never felt a color that you make me feel,” you smile.
“Whatever this is it’s real, promise you’ll stay awhile.”

“I’d never dream of being anywhere other than tangled up with you, my head in the clouds.”
You speak more softly than you ever have and say, “I like how that sounds.”
