Wolf Love

by Jad   Apr 1, 2009

This is what love is to a wolf OK
The wolf will wake up one full moonlit night from where it lays
It will point its head up to the moon and sing its song
To a mate for which it longs

Eventually after doing that once or maybe even countless times
It will hear in my next rhyme
A return call for which must be another wolf returning his call
And he will travel to the call no matter how many times he may fall

The wolves do this/ wonder why
Because thats how they meet their mate/I give a sigh
They do this and it doesn't even matter when
Because it is a natural born wolf trend

So when the wolf finds the other beautiful one
They will frolic around and have a little run
They will lick each others face
While they jump around and race

They will then run across the plains
While howling in the enchanting moonlight their names
That is the nice way of meeting their mates
But for some there is another fate

The fate is the same as meeting their mate
But there just a little too late
Because there is another wolf that has come to the wolf call
And they'll fight to death for the beautiful wolf until one falls

They will growl at each other
While they fight for there future lover
All the while the female wolf sits on her haunch
While the two wolves at each other they launch

Finally the battle comes to an end
The victor is the one who will win
The young wolf has been watching all along
Seeing which one will be her kind

The one that wins will go to the wolf girl
They will roam the barren Arctic world
After getting his wounds cleaned by his now forever partner
Making sure nothing ever harms her.

So now you've heard what love is for a wolf is
Thats how the wolf lives
Together they will travel the frozen and pine wilderness
Staying together and licking each other/similar to a kiss

You now have seen wolf love to the highest degree
Wolves will fight and also bleed
Just to be with their mates for the rest of their lives
Because to their world they have special ties

Here's the last stanza
Theres a reason for wolves to be here with us
And that is to witness the beautiful wolves of the wilderness vast
And this one of the worlds greatest things that no one should cast

So the wolves love is pure
And you make sure
that there love to one another is the greatest gift
Because the wolves are enchanting and your spirits they will lift.

The structure has got it all distracting. The content is nice, but some lines are diluted as you tried to force the last word for the RS. The inconsistency of line length is not only unappealing to the eyes, but also to the mind as the poem is read. I would try to condense some of the longer lines, add some depth and therefore increase the value of the poem.

    For example:
The thoughts of wolves brings emotional daze,
It awakes one night in the full moon phase.

^^see how its the same content, but deeper?

This is not a very well written poem. The flow is off and different in every stanza, making it difficult to read. You placed inward rhymes within some stanzas which make it even more difficult. The entire concept is boring and unprovocative, and the first line of the poem is what really brings it down to an unbeliveable low. Never use the word "ok" in a poem. It is also way to long and amazingly slow in it's progression. Sorry.

    Peace and prosperity,
