She Knows Why The Caged Bird Sings.

Trapped again,
she has given everything up for him.
no more friends, no more late nights,
her once wonderful life has now gone dim.

he keeps her in his cage
locked away from all she longs for.
she sings for no one to hear,
her sweet cries he just ignores.

she loved him once,
before he took her away.
now she wishes she could still say she did,
but she knows everything isn't okay.

she longs for someone she recognizes,
for someone to come and open her chamber.
but he has such a tight hold,
she worries the world has now forgotten about her.

she cries to sleep,
night after night.
she wants to tell this man her dreaded pain,
he screams he shouts but she doesn't want to fight.

she just lays her head down,
praying for god to give her wings.
then all of a sudden,
the poor girl realizes why the caged bird sings.
