Gone But Not Forgotten

by David ODonnell   Apr 22, 2009

Today I hold my head in shame
I told her how I was to blame
Yet she begged for me to stay
But I could not go on this way

I held my words and thoughts in mind
And tried to leave the pain behind
No matter what she said to me
I had to run for her to see

Im more than words that express my love
That burned old heart that's had enough
The sight of her with another man
Has made me see just who I am

That complex guy that makes you laugh
Too kind to ever show his wrath
Made you happy and warm inside
Told you the truth and never lied

Gave you time and listened long
Corrected your grammar if you were wrong
Wrote you poems and made you cry
Told you his dreams and made you sigh

So today I hang my head in shame
And let her know I was to blame
I feel so cold, I feel so rotten
My love is gone but not forgotten

This ending really makes one re-think their life and the way they treat "their other half"

    Very very touching!
