The Dream

by BEHROZE K PATEL   May 12, 2009

Wish I could keep my eyes open
But the dream beckons seductively
And I a helpless mortal
Have no will to resist it

It takes me to you
Speechlessly, I stare
You look so good...
So real... so alive...

You smile to me
And hold out your arms
I hesitate but a moment
And then run into them

You hold me close
And I cry silent tears
As waves from the sea
Crash against our bare feet

A mobile ring's somewhere
And I turn my head
To find reality barging its way
Right into my face

The dream and you
Both disappear
Like dew drops
Under the blazing sun

I am left to answer the phone
And other demands of life
Wishing the dream could come true
But convinced that it never would
