Lines, Vines And Trying Times~Tanka

by Poet on the Piano   Jun 16, 2009

Stuffed with changing words,
Distractions defeating me,
Yet in spite of war,
I will shed some mighty hope,
To bring optimism back.

-----------------------------------

The Tanka is a form of Japanese poetry that consists of the
following syllables: 5, 7, 5, 7, 7.

This Tanka is based on the name of the new Jonas Brother's album called "Lines, Vines And Trying Times." Their new album comes out June 16! This title holds a lot of meaning, and this Tanka is what I thought it meant. I hope you liked it, thank you!

At first when I saw the title of this poem I wasn't happy. I thought you may have ripped off the title from them. (To which I am a big fan and am going to thier concert) But after reading it and the little shout out you gave them, I was very pleased. Nice job

This opening is good. The world is changing
at a fast pace which holds many a distraction.
To live with hope & overcome hurdles is hard.
    Well done with the form!

    Clver wording MaryAnne:)

I don't know the band or the album, but I have this feeling you did justice to the meaning of their words:)

    *hugs*

Wow what can I say about this one, I am actually rather speechless. I loved how you said these distracting thoughts and words were like a war, and although it seems that way you still have hope. Taking such a simple idea and putting it in your own words and making it more interesting is exactly what youve done here. I am so impressed, something about this one just blew me away.. the word choice is great, and you did a very great job.
