Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

by Independence Forever   Jun 30, 2009

It's always the same song and dance
I've given you the millionth chance

"look what we do for you" is your same familiar jeer
well even when i was your friend that's all I could hear

I'm tired of you putting down and shoving me aside
you did everything but trust, consent, and confide

yes you gave your worldly items and proved generosity
but I refused to be a part of your material monstrosity

so I'm calling it quits like all the good people before me
so many people dislike you but you will never see

you did everything but think that it might be your fault
but I'm sure you'll find more worldly icons to exalt

your life is a sad merry go round easily predictable
you'll find in the end you're nothing but inhospitable

but go ahead continue thinking you're right and good
but then again you never will see or do as you should

paint me as a jerk, go ahead and sell your insult bid
calling it quits with you was the best thing I ever did

it's amazing how we see the truth in others at the end
your petty words and remarks won't make me bend

I understand where you're coming from. You try to be a good friend and you basically get disrespected. The weird thing is people like disloyal friends or fake friends over real true blue friends. This is a perfect way to send that sort of message. 5/5

I really get a kick every time I read another poets work for the first time and I score what I am reading excellent 5/5 and believe me on this site there are many. I found this poem has everything it flows freely with great meter. It's theme though not unfamiliar is expressive, well thought out and put together with excellence in my opinion. I love lines like

yes you gave your worldly items and proved generosity
but I refused to be a part of your material monstrosity

    and

your life is a sad merry go round easily predictable
you'll find in the end you're nothing but inhospitable

with the last line closing the poem excellently
I am going to put it forward for this weeks competition. Ray S
