Taken for Granted

by Ray Smallshaw   Sep 15, 2009

I count my blessing daily for my life which is wonderful,

For my Families, I have two,

One here in Thailand with my new Thai wife Ooy and Step-daughter Sai,

And one in England were my Son Aaron with his wife, my grandsons Finley and Drew and my Daughter Erica live,

I truly over the years took for granted the freedom I have enjoyed being born an Englishman,

That freedom has never been in jeopardy yet the reality of our world has reminded me on numerous occasions just how blessed I have been,

Having visited Yugoslavia, Poland, The USSR and Bulgaria when under communist rule,

Seeing the greyness of the countries people and witnessing the secret police following me so my freedom did not rub off on them,

Yet true freedom is held in the heart and nothing can take that away only if you bow to the evil and its tyranny,

I know how easy the human race can become sheep, yet those who have lived and died for truth and freedom are this worlds heroes,

They are those who have stood proud to their countryman's call and given their lives to make their countryman's lives that much better,

Yet we watch from the sidelines still as Tyrant's and Despot's reach out and turn their country into killing and starving grounds,

Thank God for America and the countries who support her for standing high in this world and trying to right some of those wrongs?

I get angry at the backstabbers and the bigots who don't support their countries call; our world would be a sad place if they had not acted as they have,

Terrorism, religious bigotry, greed and hatred would rule and evil would prevail and we would live in a sad world, no longer breathing freedoms air.
