Breath Again

by Lauraballz   Oct 10, 2009

Ascertain the catalyst,
Unfold slowly from clenched fists,
Fingers straining, squeezing tight,
Struggle to give up the fight.
Rub out habits deep ingrained,
That only know of ways in pain.
Relearn ways to live my life,
Erase the joys I found in strife.
A dark obsession with the drama,
Finding boredom in the calmer.
A sickness born in comfort zones,
Because hurt is all I'd known.

Now time has come for me to change,
The disarray to rearrange,
Embrace a healthy way to see,
Believe how worthy I can be.
Have faith that I deserve much more,
Than that which brought me down before.
I'll break through this once empty shell,
No longer slaving to your spell.
Move on hopeful with a smile,
Let go of those who weren't worthwhile.

Breathe again and taste the air,
At last, to breathe, without you here.
