I will ride a wonderful white horse

by Mr Rhee   Nov 5, 2009

I inhale deeply, this cold air around me.
The light from the sun is red in my closed eyes.
I feel the rock beneath my bare feet,
And the wind against my chest.

I look down from the mountain,
And see as far the clear skies allow.
All is patches of green, and brown,
And waters run dark and blue.

I look back upon my path behind me.
I didn't realize how long my journey was.
The cuts on my hands, and bruises on my legs,
Bring me great relief to finally get to this place.

I hear the winds move and dance around me,
And the clouds across the valley wait.
Earth sounds are so far away from me,
All I hear is the sky, and my own heart.

No sight of other souls for days, and days, and days.
Just my sweat and pain, and all of my fears.
No water, no rest, and no relief from the aches,
No food, no laughter, and yet, no regrets.

I try to think, and remember, why I came here,
And it barely comes to light in my mind.
An idea, a vision, a quest, an escape?
I close my eyes again, so it will come to me.

Ah, yesss! There it is, there it is, at last.
Just a simple plan, to begin again,
A pause, a new birth, another chance to live again.
So simple, so simple, so simple, at last.

So now, I can drink fresh, cool, waters,
And breathe the clean, fresh air.
I can lie in beautiful, green pastures,
And have the sweetest of sweet dreams.

I will ride a wonderful white horse,
with golden hooves, and bright, glowing eyes.
Fruits will be a plenty, all around where I look,
And nights will be warm, peaceful, sleeps.

I will never feel loneliness in this beautiful place,
And I will never be without peace fulfilled.
Love will come to me, sweet love, sweet love.
And my heart will never stop.

There is a name for this place, so I hear.
A dream to some, a paradise to others.
The name eludes me, for now, but it is well and done.
I can stay here for all eternity, and more.

Someday, I may just go back, for a little while,
To give others left behind, a dream to have.
They have to come here, and be happy with me.
To this place, this wonderful, wonderful place.

We can all be well and happy here together,
And there will be healing, and laughter.
There will be no more pain, or sadness,
And there will be no more death.

Understood about the "ands." I've considered a few changes. I was wondering if anyone else felt the same. I think I'll keep a few of those other items in though. Still, thank you for confirming my thoughts. Greatly appreciated.

    A dream or heaven Eh!
I really enjoyed this fresh breath of an air if you will pardon the pun, it took me on your incredible journey as usual yet another piece of your great poetry, with an easy meter and well balanced flow, glad you didn't make to dream like as it would have lost it for me. I would of preferred the Black stallion I use to ride in my youth called Trampus, perhaps one day I will write a story about him I still have several of his bite scars ha! ha! See you got me thinking an excellent poem 5/5 and a vote for this weeks competition. Ray S
