Blown Away on a Hurricane

by Jemma   Dec 10, 2009

Blown away on a hurricane
The harshness of ill-drawn breath
A liar calling across the wind
Hear it now - the call is true
But the words they say are not

The rain came down in a power play
A tussle in the star-crossed sky
'Release' they shout, and down they fall
A man no more but in darkness born
A hero lies in the mud

Be brave, oh friend, in a nightmare's haunt
Let it not enter your skin
For though your heart is withered bare
There was no love to be found there
And the nights can be colder yet

Dead sun can't shine on unhallowed lands
And the dust sets in the mouth
There's blood in the eye and a thorn in the throat
It can't escape in this tempered heat
A fury that simply refuses to sleep
