State of Urgency

by Melissa   Dec 24, 2009

Yesterday, I woke up sick-
with my belly flopping about,
like a foreign entity swallowed by
a perpetual tide of sea

It was as though my body
deemed itself impure,
and felt inclined to purge
all the mundane truths of reality
in a waste can, abreast a clock
that needs winding today

(I think my poems are trying to tell me something)

Wow who would have thought that waking up sick can lead you to write a great poem such as this. I like how you word your poem, and I think it's very original. It's not everyday I get to read a poem about a person waking up sick. Well I just hope that you're alright now.Keep it up;)

Gee Whiz Melissa - Sounds like the flu...unless you're speaking metaphorically, of course. Feel better, either way - and have the happiest of holidays. Thank you for your comment on my latest poem.
