Another night at the bar

by Lady Nik   Dec 26, 2009

She wears a pretty dress
dances real sexy like
eye popping bubble gum
she chews on the regular.
She's out for his heart
and his wallet...
wonder if she'll win tonight.

He pounds away on
broken piano keys
pretending there is
music to be heard. She
bats her lashes at him
slowly and the fish
is caught in the net.
Tries not to blush too
hard but I can see the
lust in his eyes.

I wipe the table
collect my tips
wait for the lights to dim.
Stand steady for the
midnight rush. alcohol
lingers on their breathe
and I keep serving them
up. See them whisper
and know what's been said.
If only she knew
he had a sick wife waiting
at home in bed.

She leans in to steal a kiss
and he lights up like
the fat rock on her hand.
I'm disgusted
He's ashamed...

Watch as the two walk
to the motel across
the street...no one
wants to know what
sounds she made.

Wipe the tables
collect my tips.
Lock the doors
head home...
and try to forget
another night at the bar

Very smooth read, didn't feel forced at all, subject matter was very real and the atmosphere of the bar was portrayed well as were the two characters. Very nicely done 5/5

A real life story that is played out night after night in bars all across the world. Well done.
