Starry Night

by Karl Wild GG23   Jan 25, 2010

I know that when the world begins to unfold,
Our love story will be amongst the greatest told.
Romeo and Juliet never had a shot to compete,
They never had a prayer put against us, the elite.

The day we met I found a princesses glass shoe,
Knew without a doubt in my heart it belonged to you.
Saw you standing their with a tiara in your chestnut hair,
Most precious sight my eyes had ever seen I swear.

I walked over and took your adorable little hand in mine,
You looked up an smiled, said "excuse me do you mind?"
To be honest I never dreamed I had much of a chance,
Replied with a grin "I don't mind, would you care to dance?"

Something I did or said must have left a good impression,
Judging by the look on your face, an interested expression.
I'll never forget the way you gazed at me with those beautiful eyes,
As I held you close and we moved as one under starlit skies.

I kissed you on the forehead and whispered "I'll never let you go"
Resting your stunning face against my chest answering "I know"
We swayed together for hours until the moon met the sun,
Since the day we met you've always been my only one.

We walked off into a sunset almost as bright as your smile,
Promised each other that day we'd soon walk down the aisle.
I'll never forget the way we danced as I held you close an tight,
I've been in love with you and only you, ever since that starry night.

This was so unbelieveably cute~ (Sorry if you don't like being compared to a Teddy Bear, but it's true.)

^ This play is known worldwide. In english, in french, german, chinese, in the young and the old. So right off the bat it was easy to understand. Everyone knows about the undying love they have for each other, the famous tragedy of Romeo and Juliet. Very cute comparisson, there's definitely a LOT of love there.

^ Isn't that just something right out of a story book? Most Love poems come off cliche, but right here you added in something special, a little bit of personality. Something to make this yours.

You have a great talent for writing, and I enjoyed reading this very much. ^-^ 5/5 Well deserved. Well earned. It was so beautiful~ -Teenage Girl Moment- Keep on Writing! x)

Aww; such a romantic write Karl! The imagery is what I loved most. It was like reading a short book really. I have read many of your poems, and they all seem to be full of emotion and truth (and voice). This is no exception. Also, you keep your choice of vocabulary very simple; which is something that I can really admire. Your works say so much.
Overall, I can honestly say that I enjoyed reading this wonderful piece. Perfectly written. 5/5.
