Chasing Rainbows

Once again I find myself stranded, trapped, waiting for your voice to save me from all I've been afraid of. I'm killing time yet again and I've become quite good at it. The second hand and I count the endless minutes nightly, the sound it makes as it slowly ticks reminds me of your heartbeat.

I close my eyes and think of your beautiful smile, the sound of your laugh and the way your adorable little fingers fit perfectly between mine. Crazy how when we're together the hours pass like minutes, but when we're apart, a minute lasts a lifetime.

You remind me of a rainbow, so mysterious and beautiful. Something so rare and amazing most people believe it to be an illusion, a mirage that can never be touched only viewed enviously from a distance. But still we all chase the pot of gold, hoping to be the first to touch it.

I smell my skin and I'm still covered in the aroma of your body, a smell similar to the air before an April rain. I can taste you on my lips and I can't keep my tongue off of them. You've become a necessity, a shelter for my weakened heart... you're my destiny.

Once again I'm killing time, I've written what seems to be a million words and mere seconds have passed. I can't take the pain of us being apart any longer, my heart beats for you, you're the air that fills my lungs. I lie to myself, make my mind believe I'm killing time when in my heart I know time is endless, it goes on forever like my love for you. The sound of the second hand echoes throughout my soul. I've come to learn time is not a friend, but an enemy to us all. As real as it may be it is still a figment of my imagination, guess I'll have to accept the fact that I'm not killing time at all, time is killing me and I'm still chasing rainbows.
