Remember

by Farther From Here   Apr 6, 2010

Remember your life's saddest moments
and sourly shove all optimism away.
Tear away from the blissful fragments
of a life lived in disarray.

Remember your encounters with friends and loved ones.
Of those whom you thought you cherished.
Remember the hatred once filled in your soul
as their love for you gradually wavered.

Remember as you walked down ruined streets
built by the torments of your past.
And slowly acknowledge the grim truth
of a death that triumphs over meaningless existence.

So take up all lies built up by the promise of joy
and fall into the ream of truthful hurt.
Because as you subconsciously do,
it'll hurt less than wishing of a joyous world,

An impossibility fantasized by the drunk and absurd.
