The Journey

The Journey
By Mark Spencer

I feel the weight of time upon my back.
My burden, growing greater as I go.
Defiance has replaced the strength I lack,
And yet, with every labored stride -- I know...

I know what place awaits at journey's end,
A place where sword and armor fall away.
Where crumbling flesh is taken by the wind,
And carried off to fight another day.

For nothing ever truly disappears,
And death is but a path to something more.
What meets the eye is not what it appears,
The journey's end unlocks another door.

And I stand at the threshold looking in,
As I await new journeys to begin.
