A Soft Kiss From Lady Death!

by Jack Nightengale   Sep 29, 2010

Young and reckless is what I used to be,
Not a care was given nor any weight on my shoulder.
I am that no longer now I kneel upon my knee,
I wish I had been courageous and bolder.

To die and end up in this cold and dark lair,
To hear the screeches of nails on a black board.
The sqeaking sound of an old wooden rocking chair,
I died to soon with things left unexplored.

I heard knocking on the dungeons door,
I realize that I can cheat death no more.
I knew that Lady Death had come to settle the score,
As she came closer my bones and muscle grew sore.

She took my soul down to the last drop,
She came in close as I took a deep breath,
Walked away with my skull when my head went pop.
Though cold it was A Soft Kiss From Lady Death!

Ugh...-Grimacing Deeply-....Your poetry always knows how to make my stomach twist in knots...I think it's still twisting...
It's dark...very dark, You paint a crystal clear image, I'd rather NOT have stuck in my head, but with all due respect, you're a terrific writer!!

    5/5
and there is hope for you.

Some poems grab you as a reader from the first line. I find this is how your poem was.
You have imagination and it's original. Good work

A good poem, I'm surprised that it hasn't received higher votes. 5/5 from me though.
