Far Away

by Robert Daniel Long   Oct 2, 2010

In the distance
The hills rise up
Before me
The green meadows
Are the backdrop
A carpet for the majesty
Laid out at it's feet

And beyond them
Lies the city
In which you reside

It just seems
So far away

We spend our time
Searching
For the answers of life
Never really finding it
Only appeasement
Like a flower in winter
Waiting
For the warmth of spring

It all too often
Seems so far away
Those answers we seek

We rage wars
Fighting for policies
And agenda's
Those derived from piety
Hoping for a reprieve

That seems so distant
And illusive

The cries
Of the fallen
Those wounded in battle
Rises up
From the silence
And fades to a place
Far away from here
Where only the dead reside

Our children
We've left
To fend for themselves
Too young to know
The difference
For the things of youth
Have been taken hostage
And placed in a realm

So far away

So confused
They stand beaten
Their faces held downward
For they are no more
The children
They were born to be

It seems that life
Has been taken away
From them
And the only Hope they have
Is too far away
Too matter

But ..................It does!!!!!!!!
