Held In Thought

by Robert Daniel Long   Oct 5, 2010

It's quiet here
In the distance
The rumble of a train is heard
But here
Only the crickets sing
Life
Is like this quiet
No one wants to talk
Unless cornered

Haunted only by thoughts
You face the day
Alone

Hurriedly
We rush from place to place
But in reality
There is no need
Is it worth
Rushing to a point
And missing all that's in between

Including a friend

Have we become
To narrow minded
Blind to the possibilities
That lay hidden
Along the way

It's quiet here
But my mind is screaming
Needing a release
For the input of thought
In Lu of idleness
That
Which rots the very soul

I reach out
But grab the vacancies
Of an illusion
A hand held out
But there's nothing there
To take hold of

Yes
It's quiet here
In the distance
The rumble of a train is heard
And I'm damned to thoughts
Of what could be

If we but................... tried

Life very well stated. In a rush, missing out , lost chances , painful memories. Life.
