The Silence is Screaming

by Jemma   Oct 7, 2010

The silence is screaming
For more, more, more
Is this a game?
So far-reaching
Hurt the hunted, nothing but prey
Weak and faithful
Is this the game?
Then kill the hope
And kill the shame
I'm nothing in the darkness
Just the burn
White eyes burning

There's ashes caught in the breeze
Choke, oh we're all choking
Coughing and wheezing
There's nothing in the world
But asphyxiation
Nothing in the world
But dead sensation

So empty the lungs
The air's gone stale
And all eyes are blind
Hands keep reaching
But there's darkness in the soul
And it's breaking
Clutching at the coil
But the thread's giving way
We've surrendered our control

It's bad enough in blood
I didn't need to see
The world caving in
And fighting to destroy me

Rise with a dark morning
Watch the solitary sun
Crashing and thrashing
As it collides with the sky
And it's burning
I'm staring at white eyes
Are my own eyes so blind and burning?

I'm just the game
I never thought I'd lose
I never thought I'd feel
The way that I feel
I never thought I'd crave
The touch of sanity over love

Cold hands stroke my burning throat
Easing the pain of strangulation
Or is it just another hallucination
Your breath is contaminated
You reek of foul pollution
But you're not even real
How can you be real?

You're just dead air
That I breathed in
And I dig deep
But you're still crawling in my veins
You're a soul that is screaming
Writhing in its chains

Nothing left in the coffers
Pockets turned out and weeping
But it's just a game
Don't need money when you're bleeding
You don't need pain to feel
That none of this ever could have been real
