I Heard Him

by Robert Daniel Long   Oct 22, 2010

I see the waves
Crash against the shore
And I hear the thunder
As they break on the beach
Where their power is released
In enormous spouts of spray

In it
There's a voice calling me
But I journey on

I see the mountains
Rise up ahead of me
Blanketed by majestic forests
Painting a beautiful tapestry of color
As the seasons change

Rivers and streams run like veins
Through the valleys and meadows
Brining life to all
And I get lost in this serenity
But here too

I hear a voice calling me
But I journey on
Afraid to listen

So
I settle here in the prairies
The open expanses
Sets your spirits free
The hills and meadow stretch out
Under a blue sky
And my soul finds peace
But again
A voice calls to me

And this time I answer

Thats when I heard
The Father say
When
Are you coming home to me
When
Will your journey end
So I can take you in
And let you taste life

For the first time
