Held by Silence

by Robert Daniel Long   Dec 1, 2010

It's quiet here
No ones around
Not a sound is uttered
No movement heard

I long to speak
But the words are hushed
By the silence

Not a sound is made
As the breeze
Brushes my face
And tussles my hair

It's almost to much to bear
This silence

It's like being embraced
By a void
As I reach out for you

I try to speak
But the words fall silent
This quiet is deafening
And I yearn to be heard

My mouth forms words
But not one
Escapes from my lips
They're held captive
By silence

The birds won't sing
The crickets won't chirp
Out of fear
I'm awakened and realize
It was but a dream

And I fear no more
For it was played out
In the quiet of my mind

For a moment
I was held captive
By silence
