In the footsteps of John Masefield.

by Allan Padgham   Dec 2, 2010

I must go down to the sea again
I'm concerned about my socks
'cos I'd dipped them 'neath the briny waves
and so I left them on the rocks.

I must go down to the sea again
for I'm a afraid that I might lose
some other stuff that too got wet,
and of course I mean my shoes.

I must go down to the sea again
there are things I must retrieve;
like the clothes I left the other day,
T'was the lot I do believe.

I must go down to the sea again
and I hope there's not a fuss.
Like what happened to me yesterday,
when I went home on the bus.
