Taken By Ignorance

by Robert Daniel Long   Dec 4, 2010

So often in life
There are people
Who've lost perspective
The grand scheme of this life
Has passed them by
And they're left
In a self dug rut

The concept of things
Has clouded their thoughts
With pious ones
And this
Is where they lost touch
With reality

Their thinking is
Since I have
Everyone has ...........what I've received
In the same quantity
Negating the actual purpose
Or reason of thought

That everyone will never be
On the same playing field
At the same time
It's literally impossible

For life deals blows
You cannot see
Nor prepare for all the time
Ones lows
Is another's highs
To think you're better
Makes you a hypocrite
A vast bundle of misconceived lies

Don't look down your nose
At people
Assuming you're wiser
What a fool
For those people are in a fight
Of their own
And among those people
Are those
Who are more educated than you

By some twist of fate
Are they........where they are
They didn't ask to be
It just happened
So mind your manners
If you have them
Don't let your blindness
Be your downfall

For the very people you scoff
You'll kiss in route to the bottom
So
Don't be naive

Wake up
And become a person
Once again
Letting true wisdom
Be your guide
Not the ignorance of the things
You have blocking your vision

Which is greed
