Only One Did

by Robert Daniel Long   Dec 5, 2010

I stood this morning
And watched the day break
Looking back at my life
I can see all
Of the ups and downs
Layed out before me
Like a tapestry
It's displayed for me to see

I see the fun times
Those filled with love and laughter
And the times that were hard
Where I struggled
To make ends meet

Each direction I looked
I see more of my life unfold
It's as if the FATHER were here
Showing me something
That I overlooked

But then
I was pointed in a direction
That troubled me
It was of all the things
I took for granted
And about all the love
I thumbed my nose at

Thinking that I was not good enough for
Or that I was better than
My blindness was great

It was here
That HE showed me
Where I fell away
Thinking no one cared
Or loved me for who I was

And it was here
That I could see
Only one did
HE gave up everything
For me
And through my shame
HE forgave me
Putting a smile
On my heart and soul
SO if you ask me
If anyone cares
Only One did

And HE still does
