Dear You, Love Me

by megann anne   Dec 23, 2010

I watched her cry a thousand tears
you never even cared
confused and lost in a dark maze
of the mind that you both shared

My princess and my sunshine
I looked on hollow eyes
so alone and hurting
as you fed her poems of lies

"No one is quite like you"
you'd whisper in her ear
"you're doing good" you'd say again
calming her deep fears

"another mile" or "one more pound"
that's all you'll ever say
her life is dark with you around
but she'll willingly obey

"stay in tonight," "don't go out"
"you have no friends at all,"
you say these things to bring about
her unforgiving fall

you've never felt the hugs she gives
or how she used to laugh
you burned her innocence and her hope
mighty whirlwinds and the shaft

she tries so hard to be the same
as every other girl
to be normal is her greatest wish
to have a break from this cruel world

I watch her struggle every day
and there's nothing I can do
I tell her that she's beautiful
you tell her "that's not true"

I love this girl you'll never know,
she's a puppet in your grasp
one day she will cut your strings
she will be free at last
