Like the Flowing River

by Larry Chamberlin   Feb 4, 2011

Like the flowing river
My thoughts seek their own level,
Tumbling through the foothills into
Oxbows twisting deeper meanings.

Like the flowing river
Crashing through the levy
At times my feelings overwhelm,
Must be dammed or drown.

Like the flowing river,
Folks take my words for their use:
Easing travail, nurturing fields
Where children reap what's sown.

Like the flowing river
I find my end at last:
Emptied to the sea from life
Waiting for the cycle to renew.

Absolutely beautiful. I too am in love with the line...
    At time my feelings overwhelm,
    Must be dammed or drown

This couplet sums up the poem in its entirety.
    Very nice write.
