Versus The World: Part 2 [free write]

by Kuro   Apr 24, 2011

Debt nearly gone
New job with better hours
New plan with new school
Reconnecting with old friends
A new muse for poetry and songs

But all is not well...

Without you by my side
Nothing is worth having
Without you by my side
Nothing is worth the effort
If I had the world
But your presence eludes
I have nothing...

It's just me versus the world
Everything is holding me down
Can I endure?

Ahhh...the sadness of love and the longing
for that one who lifts you up and gets you
going is no more by your side..this is life and
    this is love..beautifully penned!

What a twist from part 1.....you really did put a turn on your words and the 2 different situations.

I think you are using this part to show a completely different side to the story in your first part. This one gives the negative side of everything. You talk about how you now have gained everything but have lost this person and that without them you can no longer stand and keep trying. Your words are easy to understand you are very clear with what you are trying to communicate. The sadness in this poem is felt and I feel as if there might be some hope at the end of this one for this person to come back.

All in all, you have done a good job showing the other end of the spectrum of your story. The first part was about being content while you have nothing and this part deals with an emptiness even while you have everything. Very creative and unique. Great job and keep writing.
