Snooze (free write)

by Kuro   Jan 7, 2013

Sleepless nights create wishful thinking.
Alarm clocks with a snooze option
Is self torture; a chance to ignore reality.
I'll hit snooze every time;
Maybe even think about calling in sick.
I'm not ready. I linger in my bed.

I wish
I had
More time.

The gun that sits on my night stand
Next to my bed is not for self defense,
But for self destruction.

I wish
I had
More time

Like a phone call I am afraid to answer,

I'll hit snooze every time.

This write started out with not wanting to get out of bed in the mornings and then changes to a somber more serious note towards the end. It plunges the reader's thoughts into a pit of darkness...take care.

Such an abrupt change of emotion in your words left me startled. Starts out about not wanting to get out of bed in the morning, hitting the snooze alarm. Then talk about the gun and more time, hitting snooze for life. Nice work.

I liked the picture that I could paint in my mind in accordance to the scene. You had a well thought out structure, and a certain message to give. Well done.
