Spoken Silence

by Sunshine   May 14, 2011

My silence is too complicated;
my language is a difficult mess,
but if you fail to value my stillness-
you can never appreciate my words.

So I slam my heart with random
fullstops, and shut my courage
with formal letters that you
will never read.

For you're like a careless sigh,
you ditch me at my most
uneven moments-
when unprepared for a deeper breath.

    WOW.

    Okay, I don't know what happened to you to make you want to write this, but my God this was absolutely amazing. The emotion in this is so strong and I felt SUCH deep sadness. Your sad poetry moves me in ways most poetry can't, and for that I adore your poetry, always.

    The last two lines in the first stanza is so truthful - if you can't appreciate the small things, how will you EVER appreciate the bigger gestures in life/love/relationships? WOW. I love this and wish I'd written that part myself LOL

    The second stanza was my favorite, probably because it relates to writing and it's a natural drift for me. It was strong and heartening and beautiful.

    That third stanza broke my heart. You move me, Nana.
