Pedals of a Breakup

by BlueEyedMystery   Jun 24, 2011

I pinch my skin with this watch
that's weighing down my arm.

... [A present from you.]

But, all it does it tick away
the time we've been apart.
Isn't it a little funny
how I wear your pain on my wrist?

I hate how cigarettes taste in the rain,
but I smoke 'em just for you.

Maybe the smoke will bring us back one day,
Because you've left me
in a wasteland where the scent of death
is layered on top of the pain.

Sometimes we stare too long
into the absence of love.

And maybe I should brush
the hair from your eyes every now and then.
So you can see,
-really- see
just who you're holding at night.

[I hope you tell her she's enough for you.]
While she can still love.

Well many people have surely wrote many lines over break ups, these are certainly the best I have read !

Maybe the smoke will bring us back one day,
    Because you've left me
in a wasteland where the scent of death
is layered on top of the pain.

Here the psychological justification of smoking in the rain which you don't like is just amazingly penned ! You know I can picture this really !

    Way to go
