A Fair Young Boy

by QueenGwen   Jul 13, 2011

Once upon a Sunday morning
Almost without warning
A fair young boy opened his eyes
From his bed he began to rise

Slow at start
With a heavy heart
He began his day
In a sort of dismay

From the shower
A song of power
usually could be heard
but not today, how absurd

Breakfast was plain
Outside was rain
Ring, ring, ringing
The phone was singing

But no one was there
The boy didn't care
Ding Dong
The doorbell's song

But only the rain was present
The boy didn't mind, he was content
to be alone,
him and his throne

tap tap tapped
the window rapped
a little cat sat in the cold
looking sad but bold

the boys frown turned
slowly upside down
into a smile as he took the cat
into his lap and sat

The cat remained with the boy
And caused everlasting joy
the little creature changed his day
In the end they were okay
