Rosaura's Smile

by Larry Chamberlin   Jul 22, 2011

You came into my life
in the middle of the day,
wandering by the pool
with a smile by Da Vinci.

I looked for you there
every day after, hoping
for just a sun burst, brief
sign of your interest.

Too many months we spent
in silly games denying
how much we cared -
time wasted before we joined.

Decades later, it intoxicates
in quiet moments: your smile
takes me back forever
to the middle of that day.

Thank you, Connie. Your comment made me realize I gave the wrong meessage and prompted me to revise the poem. You see, it is dedicated to my wife.

A poem of reality, waiting for each to make the move. Jump in and win or lose you took your chance.
I felt such sadness reading this. I hope it was just a poem and not reality for you
