Real Life Nightmare

by Jack Nightengale   Oct 3, 2011

Insomnia kicks in and his eyes turn blood red,
Popping sleeping pills, crawling to his pillow just to rest his head.

Minutes go by as his eyes shut and time stands still,
Falling into a dream, a massacre where theres nothing but blood spill.

He sees people crying over a grave and he doesn't know why,
Eventually they just give up and think there's no reason to try.

The dream goes to the beginning to show him what he's come to miss,
On the table under the knife, holding strong until death takes him with just the softest kiss.

Tortured and tormented, he refuses to believe,
All the pain and suffering had finally been retrieved.

They've taken everything from the inside and threw it all away,
Leaving him open, dead, never again to see the light of day.

In comes a man in a suit to take him to his grave,
Refusing to go, standing strong and standing brave.

"This is my dream and I'm not going anywhere!"
"This is no dream, now come with me or I'll be your worst nightmare."

He awakes shaking, shivering, out of breath and cold,
Thinking to himself, "Is it finally time for my soul to be sold?"

Wondering why it's still dark out and how long he had been asleep,
It's only been ten minutes but, he never realized because his dream was just too deep.

Was that a dream =, and was I really there?
Or was it a promise of what will happen, or was it my real life nightmare.

Disturbing and terrifying! Ugh!! Very well-written. Leaves chills down my arms...
I really hope it was all a dream...I really do.
