Alone on the front porch

Alone on the front porch,
staring at the glowing moon,
reminiscing about this very moment with her love,
hands intertwining,
looking into each others eyes promising forever.

Longing to be back in his gentle embrace,
hearing his soothing heart beat,
filling up her lungs with the very essence of him,
never wanting this moment to end,
stepping on her tippy toes,
she innocently gives him a kiss.

Pushing back her hair,
lifting her chin up with his finger,
he whispers "I'm yours forever,"
as a single tear runs down her face,
knowing she has to say goodbye,
holding on for dear life till the next time she sees him.

Alone on the front porch,
replaying every second of that night,
remembers telling him "I'll never give up on you,"
promising to always be together,
distance is nothing but a bump in the road,
closing her eyes tightly,
she reminds herself this is just another day closer to seeing him again.
