And then, I stood

by Meme   Oct 30, 2011

I never knew I would,
even if I could.
But I did, since it was
obvious that I should.

It was in my childhood,
what a likelihood, when
they thought I would fall,
I stood.

Always misunderstood,
in that neighborhood,
led eventually to something
good.

A day came when they all
understood, I no longer wear
that hood. And learned that
if you ever could, then you
always should.

I was just looking through and came across this little gem, i have always loved your rhyming missy :-). In my brain i call this one the 'oods' for obvious reasons lol but i do love the way that it flows, i think this will probably only make sense to me but its kinds a broken flow(but in a good way) the way you wrote it makes the reader pause after each line and i love it when a poem takes control of the reader, like it says "if your gonna read me, then your gonna read me my way'

    Love it :-)

I like this kind of your poetry Meme, Its where you truly really excel,
this was a very smooth flowing poem, and the message behind it was very clear, loud and defiant, I appreciate it very much
