Black Bird

by yogi73   Oct 31, 2011

Walking along a forest path not yet wearily
I think I'm sure I know this path, my
footfalls eerily. What's clear
to hear but still unseen, hidden in high and
lofty tree. A lonely cry thru
quaking leaves floating in golden sea
Black bird, black bird, do you caw for me?

What was sound I had before, I'm not
so certain I know this path any more.
There was a time a younger man heard
not the beckoning call, but black bird,
black bird always waits for all.

Laughter fills this leafy path, this forest I
surely know. I fear, I fear, I fear
the call. Do you hear the crow? I pick my
pace to fight the grasps of the crisp and early fall.
This forest path the laughter now still. Black bird, black bird,
please don't raise your call.

This familiar worn path in these familiar woods
it's a place I don't recall.
My path is weary and confused,
my mind feeble and flawed.
black bird, black bird. caw. caw. caw.

I love the title. I love how you made it so descriptive , felt like I was actually there while reading it. I love how it's a dark poem. therefor I think the poem is very good :)

The beginning is very out there and kind of dark I like it.

"Laughter fills this leafy path, this forest I

the call. Do you hear the crow? I pick my
pace to fight the grasps of the crisp and early fall.
This forest path the laughter still. Black bird, black bird,

The imagery is so vivid right here its outstanding. Its almost like a old mans tale that little kids would be scared of.

"This familiar worn path in these familiar woods

    my mind feeble and flawed.

This ending went so well and brought it all together, the poem was dark and I loved how you made the reader feel in this.
