An Old Photo Album

They say a person with no past
has no future. But when it came
to me, forgetting my past was
the only way to survive the present,
or even maybe have a future.
But the past had some unfinished
business with me, so it started calling.

I had to answer back, to see what
once was there. So I went back to
the box of memories I once closed.
A bunch of childhood photos found
their way to my hand. I never thought
I would see something different in
them this time.

You were there somewhere in ever
corner of every picture, holding my
hand, or playing with my hair, but
often starring at me when I am
looking elsewhere. Maybe you did
really fall for me all of this time,
but I never looked back to read
what was written in your eyes.

It all started with my birthday
pictures, you were the only kid
holding my hand as I cut the cake.
And as I went through more pictures
it seemed that you had a reason to
be present in all of my documented
moments without me noticing that.
So I decided to look closer at every
picture we once had together, but
sadly I have reached the end of
this album

so I wonder if I capture a picture of
you and me now, what would I see ?
