Unspoken Apologies

by Meme   Dec 30, 2011

I apologize for the endless
good-nights I bid you. And for
all the photos I gathered just
to make you your own album;
something that highlights all the
special moments in your life.

I apologize for running away
whenever you came back, but
it was just so hard for me. You
looked the same, but you were
never the same, you reminded me
of the old you, but he's already gone.

I apologize for refusing to let
go of the old memories I shared
with you, all the laughter we once
had still haunts me, oh how I miss
that. Maybe you never knew,
but I always looked up to you.

I apologize for caring that much,
believe it or not but I know who you
are deep inside. You have a big heart
that's filled with emptiness. What
others gave you failed to fill the missing
parts in you, they just never understood.

I apologize for writing this, knowing
for sure that you'll never get to read
it. Perhaps a day will come when I will
be brave enough to stand in front of
you and read you this. But until that day
- I sincerely apologize.

Wow... this poem was so touching and heartbreaking... I love the title, it was perfect for this poem and fit it so well. This poem is so heartfelt, and sad... I love how each stanza begins with a new apology, and how you explain the missed memories and other thoughtful things. It was so sad and I could feel the emotions you expressed, and I could relate to many parts, especially about the fact that this person will never read the poem you wrote for them.

    I looooooove this part:

    "You
looked the same, but you were
never the same, you reminded me
of the old you, but he's already gone."
--- It's such a true statement! Some people make look the same, but they'll never be the same way we remember them as!

    Amazing poem hon!
