I've been chasing something
since I was 12 years old
and maybe younger
but I know for sure
that at 12 I was looking
for a way to become
the one thing I had always dreamed of...
a singer
this is what I want
but not for the fortune or the fame
I feel that if given the chance
I could make it
in this world
as a successful singer
the chase begin when I expressed an interest in the school chorus
during the summer of 7th grade
I proceeded to participate
in the school chorus for the next 2 years and then
promptly gave it up
because I couldn't handle
the pressure of my fear
that enveloped my body
which made it impossible
for me to sing
I was afraid of what others would say
about my voice
would they think it was horrible?
or would they think it was so good
that they no longer wanted to sing
so I gave up...
but now,
after being away from chorus
for 3 years,
I wanna go back
I need to get past my fear
and perfect my talents
so that I may continue
to chase this dream
that has been taunting me
for the last 6 plus years
of my life
