Security Blanket

by Maple Tree   Feb 29, 2012

When I feel isolated,
that Is when
I write,
gazing into a thesaurus
to heal my sorrowful soul,
comfort an overwrought mind,
along with a thousand words
that I shape, mix and match
such as paint and canvas
to create my very own
security blanket....

-Hand-to-heart-Gesture- This poem speaks to me, Maple!! Oh, I just love this :D You explained it in a way I could never. I could imagine you cracking open a thesaurus to ease your troubled mind, or calm your nerves. -Smiling- I do the same myself, only with a dictionary. Ha Ha. Anyways, Lovely write and clever title. :3

Fell in love with this poem, and the unique idea. Beautifully-portrayed, I often grab a thesaurus too and just explore through it! Great imagery about mixing and matching words also, sometimes when we do feel alone we just need to find that way to get it out and try not to be isolated anymore.

    Keep it up :)

Yes!! I couldn't have say it better.
I have found a security blanket writing. Other times by reading.

This piece somehow reminded me when we are kids and scare We tend to hide under the blanket thinking that it could protect us. Actually, it does because we feel secure under it. And poetry or simply writing does have that same effect too.
