My New Best Friend

by Glenn G   Mar 18, 2012

I once looked at death with an unwanted face
A one way journey to a terrible place
I now look at death with no deliberate resistance
Rather a permanent end to a miserable existence
When I lost my dad I wept tears like a child
It was months before I could even fake a smile
Ten years later they laid my cousin to rest
Apart from the mourners he looked his best
I sat in envy as he rested in peace
And knew he deserved the welcome relief
When they lay me down waste no precious tears
Remember my misery and empty years
Feel good that my suffering has come to an end
And death has become my new best friend
