Color-Blinded By Love

by Glenn G   Apr 5, 2012

A young man and woman in a love that feels so right
The young man is black and the woman is white
For fear of their lives they meet in the strangest of places
To look in their eyes and share their embraces
One night while they were together with the moon and stars above
She began to scream as she took every inch of his love
She heard her lover gasp and opened her eyes to something she didn't
expect
Five men in white sheets with a rope around his neck
She begged and pleaded for them to spare his life
"Ain't no nigger 'round here gonna take a white woman for a wife"
More than a young man died at the end of that rope
A woman's only love and a lifetime of hope
Unable to cope with her loss and despair
She threw herself off the bridge of Lake Wabashare
