Moonflower

by A lonely soul   Apr 7, 2012

Have you ever witnessed
the moon bloom, felt awed
by its resplendent beauty
lighting up the night sky

Have you ever been moonstruck
by the beauty of a moonflower
exotic and rare
ambrosial as an angel

Have you not seen the moon smile
a piercing beauty, that
like cupid's arrows,
leave immortal wounds on your heart

Have you sometimes felt forsaken
when the moon hid
as the sun arose
burning away the soft night skies

Have you ever wondered
what will happen
If the sun had no moon
for it to chase each day

Our night skies will be
forever dark
for the starlight
is no surrogate for a
blooming moonshine

And then the sun in me
would ask to be a white-dwarf
an empty shell of a being
that grieves for its lost moon
